Apartment and Hotel Robberies Result in Death to Hispanic Workers
A 28-year-old El Paso, Texas man was shot to death in Tuscaloosa, Ala. during a home-invasion robbery, according to a report in the Tuscaloosa News. The victim's roommate, who also was shot in the wrist and leg, told police that two men forcibly entered their apartment at gunpoint and attempted rob them. Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson said he believes Hispanic men, including the El Paso native, in Tuscaloosa are being targeted for robbery. Several Hispanics have been robbed at a hotel where migrant workers are known to live. On Dec. 29, Romeo Alegunord Aguilar was killed in a robbery at a hotel. Nobody has been arrested in that homicide. Police say the suspects in Friday's homicide somewhat match descriptions of suspects in the Dec. 29 homicide. [02-08-09]
